Description

The purpose of this guide is to provide a quick reference resource for when you’re working a clinical shift. This guide should be treated as an adjunct to the medical textbook. It is designed to help refresh your memory at the touch of a screen but not intended to replace traditional learning formats. Graduating medical school and starting residency is a daunting process. Often you find yourself unable to recall that important little nugget of information, just when you need it. In July 2012, as new emergency medicine residents, we realized that this happened quite a bit. It became clear to us that to help future generations of residents integrate the traditional textbook with on the shift learning and patient care, an electronic guide for quick reference was needed. We hope this guide will help you in the learning zone of residency and emergency medicine training. Use it for those moments when you just can’t recall what you read last night or when you have to manage something for the first time on call. Dr. Christopher Lewandowski has supported the residents and faculty throughout this endeavor by providing continuous encouragement. Version 2 of this guide was updated in 2019 with the help of current residents of Henry Ford Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
