Author James Froude does a fantastic job in this biography of Julius Caesar with giving extensive details on not only the life of Julius Caesar, but also the history of Rome before his birth. Froude lays out the political and social context into which Caesar was born, and that which greatly influenced his actions, thereby lending the reader great insight into Caesar's character.
