The capital of Myanmar’s Kayin State, Hpa-An is one of the most stunning places in the world. Yet, it is largely overlooked and underrated, and most visitors to Myanmar don’t include it in their itinerary or spend very little time there. The laid-back city is in a vast plain from which curious looking limestone mountains and hills pop up here and there. In and around Hpa-An, you’ll find iconic Buddhist pagodas, surprisingly beautiful caves, natural water pools, and amazing vistas.
