Dear Seventh-day Adventist constituents, does the prophetic guidance just quoted strike you as being just a tad scary? If you have been paying close attention lately, a movement has been steadily, but stealthily, building over the past several years and is now dangerously close to reaching groundswell proportions in the North American Division and beyond. This movement would accomplish the objective of ordaining women as full-fledged ministers of the Gospel.
Are you concerned? Is there anything you could or should do about it? Before you answer, please take the time to read through this little book. You want to make the right decision at this momentous time in our church’s history. May the Holy Spirit be your unfailing Guide and Counselor.
This book is not strident, nor is it chauvinistic. Quite the contrary, it is the product of careful, painstaking research, combined with a fair and balanced delineation of the facts concerning the whole issue of women’s ordination to the Gospel ministry. Although the subject matter without doubt touches the emotions, the appeal of Pastor Bohr’s essay is quiet and well reasoned.
When it comes time to cast your ballot, may you have the courage to be remnant people—men and women who will not be bought or sold, who in their inmost souls are true and honest, who do not fear to call sin by its right name, who will stand for the right though the heavens fall. (See Ellen G. White,Education, p. 57.) Praise God for men and women like these: men and women just like you! Without qualification or reservation, I want to stand with Pastor Bohr and you on the side of sanctified courage.
