In the 1840s, a mischievous boy named Tom Sawyer lives with his Aunt Polly and his half-brother, Sid, in the fictional Mississippi River town of St. Petersburg, Missouri. After playing hooky from school on Friday and dirtying his clothes in a fight, Tom is made to whitewash the fence as punishment all of the next day. At first, Tom is disheartened by having to forfeit his day off. However, he soon cleverly persuades his friends to trade him small treasures for the privilege of doing his work. He trades the treasures he got by tricking his friends into whitewashing the fence for tickets given out in Sunday school for memorizing Bible verses, which can be used to claim a Bible as a prize. He received enough tickets to be given the Bible. However, in response to a question to show off his knowledge, he incorrectly answers that the first disciples were David and Goliath.<br>

It was an amazing read. One of the best I’ve read.
  • Bad copy

At around chapter 25, this copy of the book jumps back to a much earlier part of the story for a couple of before going back for the conclusion skipping chunks along the way.

Story is great—but you won’t get to read the whole thing with this download. Starting with Chapter 26 or so it goes back and reprints previous chapters, and it isn’t corrected until around 29. A bunch of the story is missing as a result.
  • Bad transcription

    By IReadTooManyBooks
Chapters 25-28 have the wrong text in them, repeating text from earlier in the book. Various bits of formatting, like italics and font differences, are missing.

This version of the book was missing a few chapters and repeats past chapters.
  • Missing and repeated chapters!

A terrible way to mess up a fine classic, this here ebook is. Scandalous!
  • Not complete. Missing 2 chapters.... maybe more.

The book is a real treat and this poor review is only for who ever put this copy of the book online. All is well till chapter 25 where it all gets messed up, because it starts back over with old chapters you've already read. It'll get back on track at chapter 27, but it's skipped over the two missed chapters and you are left in the dark. Garbage. I had to go find another copy to finish the book.
