Description

When the Imperial prison barge Purge–temporary home to five hundred of the galaxy’ s most ruthless killers, rebels, scoundrels, and thieves–breaks down in a distant, uninhabited part of space, its only hope appears to lie with a Star Destroyer found drifting, derelict, and seemingly abandoned. But when a boarding party from the Purge is sent to scavenge for parts, only half of them come back–bringing with them a horrific disease so lethal that within hours nearly all aboard the Purge die in ways too hideous to imagine.

And death is only the beginning.

The Purge’s half-dozen survivors– two teenage brothers, a sadistic captain of the guards, a couple of rogue smugglers, and the chief medical officer, the lone woman on board–will do whatever it takes to stay alive. But nothing can prepare them for what lies waiting aboard the Star Destroyer amid its vast creaking emptiness that isn’t really empty at all. For the dead are rising: soulless, unstoppable, and unspeakably hungry.

Features a bonus section following the novel that includes a primer on the Star Wars expanded universe, and over half a dozen excerpts from some of the most popular Star Wars books of the last thirty years!

By far one of my favorite reads, leading me further into the expanded universe. If you are hesitant about getting the book I can honestly say that it was worth it. A different but welcomed take on the idea that is Star Wars, well done and true to the story.

A very good read, though it does hit close to home when you read things like this during a pandemic.

This is a dark horror story set in the Star Wars universe. It is however not story a mouse would tell you. This is a zombie novel done so well I was stuck with nightmarish imagines stuck in my head. And it’s Star Wars. And Sith Spit does it work. Genuinely scary and tense it keeps the the Star Wars feel throughout. Long live the EU. PS this is a review of the audiobook. For some reason my edition? will not let me rate the audiobook. 1/13/2020

This book can bring up the imagery of what is happening. Everything is in great detail and the tension is almost constantly palpable. Every second after a non-disclosed Point for the sake of spoilers is very tense and constantly coming up with more reasons to be so. The consistency in the sickness is very real as well so you never go wait it can’t do that.

This book was amazing yet it has a few plot supries that may work or not depending on the reader. This book was so good that I had finished it in less than two days, which was to me something impresive for maybe once or twice had I read a book that fast. Without going into deatil or spoiling the story, it takes palce during the time of the Empire “ovious here becasue of the helmet on the cover but its about horror and the empire and starwars and some unfrogtable characters. Imagine the "The Thing’ in space with super technology so like a horror story with in the Empire. This all works super and I mean super well, this all fits together and it just makes sense. Its the perfect side story with the right setting, any SciFi Horror fan will love this title. The second half of the book is a bit weird because of the suprises yet it still keeps the tone, even the ending fits all well. Depending on your love or hate for starwars the ending will leave you weirded out or satify as any true story, people have their own opinons yet to me overall this was a great book.
