Description

In this sweet and sexy spin-off of New York Times bestselling author Kate Pearce’s beloved Morgan Ranch series, the close-knit folks of Morgantown, California, have long memories—and big hearts to go with them.

Everyone in rancher Danny Miller’s life wants to know how he feels about his teenage flame returning to Morgan Valley. Danny wishes he knew. After the disastrous ending of their relationship, and Faith’s choice to leave town all those years ago, Danny’s rebuilt his life without her. But he’s about to have a very practical reason for needing her in it again—despite the very impractical desire she inspires once he lays eyes on her . . .

Faith McDonald hadn’t planned on returning home, but with her dad retiring, her help is needed at the family veterinary practice. She’s hoping that by now, folks have forgotten what happened between her and Danny—even if the two of them never can. With a mystery infection decimating the Miller cattle, she and Danny soon find themselves on the same side for the first time in forever. There was a lot of trouble in their past, but the good parts never really flamed out, including their intense attraction. And their shared determination to cure the cattle might just lead them to a healing of their own—and a whole new all-grown-up future . . .

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy as I loved it and wanted to help support a favorite author. First thing about this book that as it is a part of a series of the Miller siblings of Morgan Valley, it can be read as a stand-alone. That being said, I would highly recommend reading the series especially if you adore cowboys finding their true love. This book, along with the series, is very well written. The plot flows beautifully to the point that I felt like I was right there with them. I loved that prior characters also made multiple appearances so I was able to revisit "old friends". This tale of a second chance with a first love that did not disappoint. I heart broke for these two. I loved how the author kept the lines of communication open but just enough so the characters came across as more mature (since they were both 34) and not childish. This book is written in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into a character's thoughts during a scene, really helps me to connect with them better. I can really identify and enjoy the story so much better that way. This is a sexy read with a small scene between the two main characters. Also I applaud the author of introducing to a small degree Faith's brother's love of someone that may offend some. BUT she did it in a way that they only danced and embraced. That being said I would highly recommend this wonderful story to anyone OVER the age of 18.

Interesting read. The story is of long lost love and if after 17 years will Faith and Danny reconnect. Faith comes home after 17 years to help her brother take over their father’s veterinarian office. Living in a small town of course she runs into her 1st love rancher Danny Miller. The whole town is giving Faith the cold shoulder and good guy Danny tries to change their minds. The two are thrown together when the calves at the Miller’s ranch come down with a unknown ailment. Two have died and a neighboring rancher has the same problems. I found the ranch life interesting, really gives you to inside what a hard life ranching it is. The mystery of the origin of the infectious disease wasn’t hard to figure out. It did drag on in the story before Faith and Danny figured it out. Of course the two had their own past history to work through and the Miller’s are all back for Daisy’s wedding. Helps if you read the previous books, but can be a standalone. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.

ARC for honest review with no compensation Received from NetGalley Sweet Talking Rancher is book 5 in the Millers of Morgan Valley by Kate Pearce and a new to me author. Danny Miller and Faith McDonald were high school sweethearts but with some meddling of her parents she left him behind and moved on. Now 17 years later she returns to town to help in the veterinarian practice with her father retiring. With a mysterious sickness hitting the cattle she and Danny need to work together to discover the source but can they heal the past and move forward too? Only time I’ll tell…

A convoluted past and bovine illness. Danny and Faith were 17 and pregnant, ran off to Vegas, but then things get complicated for Faith. Danny goes home and continues on the family ranch, while Faith has a rocky path and many obstacles. She's back and now they are dealing with a bovine infection (there was a lot of time spent on ill cows). I think their back story could have been cleared up by a phone call, some sort of communication, but well, that would be too easy. I do like Kate's writing.

This is a second chance romance about high school sweethearts that haven’t seen each other in seventeen years, Danny and Faith. What very few people know is the reason Faith left and why she stayed away. Danny isn’t sure what he thinks of Faith returning to work in her father’s veterinarian practice, but he knows he’s glad she’s back, although he’s still hurt. I always enjoy reading about the Miller siblings and this book was no exception. Grab your copy and see if they can finally get a happily ever after without anyone meddling with their lives. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
