Description

First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes baby in a baby carriage. Just not necessarily in that order. . . .

Braxton: I should probably be dead or in jail right now. Instead, thanks to some tough love, I worked my ass off and now I own a string of tattoo parlors throughout the Pacific Northwest. And yet the one thing I’ve always wanted—a family—still seems out of reach. When my best friend gets married, I’m just hoping to blow off some steam with the super-hot maid of honor. But after Cara Thompson tracks me down to tell me she’s pregnant, she’s more surprised than I am when I tell her I’m all in.

Cara: For the first time in my life, I’m living for myself—not for my parents and their ridiculous expectations. I gave up on my MBA, dropped out of the Ivy League, and moved to Portland to pursue my dream of becoming an artist. And what’s the first thing I do? Get knocked up. For a tatted-up sex god, Braxton Henley seems way too eager to “be there for me.” Is this guy serious? Maybe. He sure is patient. Because he won’t back down until I admit what I know in my heart: that our one night stand might’ve led me to the one.

It is a book to read when incredibly bored. Other than that, the characters, whether Braxton or Cara, nothing special about them. You could have done better developing the characters. It is something to read when bored, but, otherwise, I’m not impressed

I’ll start by saying that this book is short but fun and sweet. Its characters are very likable and the story is romantic and more realistic than some romance novels. Definitely worth your time and am glad that I chose to read it!
  • Repetitive and annoying

And what’s up with the cover picture not matching the characters? The tattoos are integral to this story and you don’t see a single one on this dude! Just bad, don’t waste your money.

After the devastating loss of her brother, Cara decides to start living life and pursuing her dreams. She made a promise to her brother that she'd do all the things they had dreamed of doing, starting with giving up her MBA. Cara's dad always pushed her to be what he wanted her to be--a lawyer. Trying to make her family love her as much as they did her brother, she became the dutiful daughter. After losing her brother, she realized she was never going to make her parents happy. She gave up her trust and moved to Portland to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. She worked in a gallery, but never showed any of her art to the owner. She lived paycheck to paycheck, not in the best part of town. But she was living her dreams. As maid of honor at her best friend's wedding, Cara meets Braxton. He was everything she shouldn't want, but did. After a scorching hot weekend with Braxton, she went on with her life....but now had a nice reminder of her weekend with Braxton. Braxton grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Braxton and his friend were cared for by a man down the street who took them under his wing. He showed them how to work hard, treat people right, and succeed in life. Lord knows he never had a mother to instill those values. Braxton has great success as a tattoo artist. He is so successful, he has a waiting list of people dying to have him work his magic. You know the saying, "Looks can be deceiving". That describes Braxton to a tee. He looks to be a gruff, biker guy, but is really a romantic at heart. When Cara comes to let him know she's pregnant, he claims he's all in. Cara has struggled for so long to be independent and do things on her own, that she doesn't know if she trust Braxton with her heart, much less her baby. I have to say this is one of my favorite Stacey Lynn novels!!! I loved Braxton!!! He is my new book boyfriend. He is attentive, caring, touching, romantic, and unbelievably patient. He not only stepped in to help Cara when she suffered with hyper-emesis, he encouraged her art. He even made an art room for her in his house. I absolutely loved how his rescued dog seemed to love Cara, almost more than Braxton. I enjoyed the time Stacey gave them to really know each other before falling back into bed again. I enjoyed their quirky, supportive friends. I enjoyed the playful banter at the OBGYN appointments too. So funny!!! I highly recommend this novel. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
