"Explosive... A blistering tell-all."---Washington Post

"People should sit up, take notes and change things."---Ace Smith, Los Angeles Times

"Brazile most certainly has a story to tell.... Vivid."---The Guardian

From Donna Brazile, former DNC chair and legendary political operative, an explosive and revealing new look at the 2016 election: the first insider account of the Russian hacking of the DNC and the missteps by the Clinton campaign and Obama administration that enabled a Trump victory.

In the fallout of the Russian hacking of the Democratic National Committee--and as chaos threatened to consume the party's convention--Democrats turned to a familiar figure to right the ship: Donna Brazile. Known to millions from her frequent TV appearances, she was no stranger to high stakes and dirty opponents, and the longtime Democratic strategist had a reputation in Washington as a one-stop shop for fixing sticky problems.

What Brazile found at the DNC was unlike anything she had experienced before--and much worse than is commonly known. The party was beset by infighting, scandal, and hubris, while reeling from a brazen and wholly unprecedented attempt by a foreign power to influence the presidential election. Plus, its candidate, Hillary Clinton, faced an opponent who broke every rule in the political playbook.

Packed with never-before-reported revelations about what went down in 2016, Hacks is equal parts campaign thriller, memoir, and roadmap for the future. With Democrats now in the wilderness after this historic defeat, Hacks argues that staying silent about what went wrong helps no one. Only by laying bare the missteps, miscalculations, and crimes of 2016, Brazile contends, will Americans be able to salvage their democracy.

Very good. Technical side of a campaign in a digital age. Scary in some ways and mesmerizing in the telling of an important flaw in current way of campaigning. It is written in a flowing, easy to read manner that makes subject matter easy

I’m surprised that Donna would write a book that paints her in such an insignificant way. She was a place holder and a token. Why would she accept such behavior from the principles of the party? I’m reminded of Trump saying, “what in the hell do you have to lose.”

Didn’t know what to expect, I was thinking this would have been more of an attack on Clinton, regardless I was consumed with the book. I didn’t think much of Donna other than whiner about losing the election. My views changed after reading this book. It was easy to fall in love with her passion and love for her God, country and party. We may not see eye to eye on everything but I have the upmost respect for this darling of a woman. Great read Donna, God Bless you!!

This book is a great read. As a republican, I really enjoyed learning the “why” behind decisions made. Donna, I have always watched you on all of the Sunday political programs. I always considered you a worthy advocate that should be respected. I was utterly shocked that you gave the questions to Hillary. I’m afraid you all were blinded by the candidate and her confidence that she was a shoe in. I think liberals tend to think they are right and anyone else is stupid. Time to put the Clintons to bed. I still believe you are a good person and that you may well be the right person to rebuild the Democratic Party.

This book does more to confirm the ineptitude of bureaucratic politics than exonerate its alleged victims. The Keystone Cops protocol at the DNC and utter lack of synergies with Hillary’s campaign staff is the real culprit here, with the Russians as convenient scapegoats.
  • Illuminating Exposé of Democratic Politics in 2016

Donna Brazile’s “Hacks” is a startling, illuminating exposé of US Democratic (D) politics in 2016. The book is shocking and controversial, but its essential take-away is that we desperately need campaign finance reform in US politics. Without real campaign finance reform, running for political office will continue to require successful fundraising because politics will continue to be dominated by those whose wealth and power gives them great visibility and control. Readers and students interested in gaining an understanding of different current Democratic perspectives should also read Hillary Clinton’s book “What Happened” and Bernie Sanders’ new upcoming 2017 book (pending), and his “Guide to Political Revolution” and “Our Revolution.”

Donna really lets you get inside her head. Noticed in credit thank you s Hilary’s name is not included. Many of Donna’s “facts” are understandable from her personal thoughts.
  • Great read detailing corruption of Hillary Clinton
