Description

Candace Andrews has had enough of pleasing others. In an act of birthday rebellion, she sets out to please herself—by walking into the tattoo parlor owned by her cousin’s ex-boyfriend. All she wants is a little ink, and Brian’s just the guy to give it to her.

As soon as she submits to his masterful hands, though, the forbidden attraction she’s always felt for him resurfaces…and she realizes the devilishly sexy artist could give her so much more.

Sweet, innocent Candace is the last person Brian expected to see again. She’s everything he’s not, and her family despises him. He doesn’t need the hassle, but he needs her, and this time no one is taking her away. Not even those who threaten to make his life a living hell.

Backed into a corner, Candace faces the worst kind of choice. Give in to those who think Brian is nothing but trouble…or hold her ground and risk it all for the one man who rocks her world.

This had a bit of a taboo relationship to it. Brian is the ex of Candace's cousin. She has crushed on him since the day she met him. He should be off limits to her, but her cousin is now moved on and happy with a new man and Candace's crush doesn't seem to want to go away. Candace has a pretty sheltered life. Her parents are demanding and keep her on a pretty tight leash. On her 23rd birthday she decides to rebel a bit and get a small tattoo. Who better to give her that tattoo than Brian. Brian has been the black sheep of the family and while he has grown up and become a responsible adult, he still feels like that troubled teen with his family. He owns his own tattoo parlor and leads a pretty sedate life now. When Candace walks in the door for a tattoo she is a temptation he can't resist. The attraction between these two were off the charts. You really felt how much they wanted each other. When things were good and they were together, I loved these two as a couple. Brian was intense and really brought the heat when he was with Candace. What I didn't love was the constant back and forth from Candace. She let her family get in the way too much and too many times. If she didn't keep changing her mind, this wouldn't have bothered me so much. I also didn't like that she was the pursuer. I'm just not a fan of the heroine doing the chasing. As much as I loved Brian, I didn't enjoy hearing about Brian's fond memories of his night with her cousin. That's just something I don't care to hear about when he should be thinking about the heroine. It only happened once, but once is too much when he was already in too deep with Candace. As you can see, I'm a bit conflicted with their story. I loved parts of it, but struggled with other parts.
