Bursting with concept art, production samples, early sketches, storyboards, and exclusive commentary, this lavishly illustrated companion book offers a meticulous written and visual history of the show, as well as an all-access tour of the creative team’s process. When I first got into this masterpiece of a cartoon I never thought I would be that addicted. But 2 years of Steven Universe nonstop, I still stand strong and enjoy it at my hearts content. But this book takes the cake. How specific it is, it's an SU fan's dream. From where the show is animated to the somewhat luxury outfit Amethyst could have worn, it's all too much. But all in a good way. The original art is so pretty. It's messy but somehow the talent of the Crewniverse makes it seem like art. And the colors used in the pilot. It shocks me how different both final copies look. Although in the book it said the fans at the time weren't too happy at the cleaner version of Steven Universe, no one can't say no to this gem of a show. But there is more. What interests me is how Rebecca used the three main shapes to create the main Gems of the show. Square, circles, and triangles. Also I noticed that the concepts of Homeworld Gems all had the main colors of the rainbow. I only assume Ms.Sugar would have used different shades of that color to make a whole design. Overall I enjoyed it well. 💗💗
