"Intense and gripping...Coes' name should be on the lips of every reader who enjoys Vince Flynn and the Brads (Taylor and Thor).

Only one man stands between a powerful cabal planning an invisible coup of the U.S. government and their brutal goals—Dewey Andreas.

A group of some of the most powerful people in the government, the military, and the private sector, has begun a brutal plan to quietly take over the reins of the U.S. government. They’ve begun to remove the people who stand in their way—and replace them with their own sympathizers and puppets. They’ve already taken out the Speaker of the House—whose death was made to look like an accidental drowning—and the president and vice president are next. Once they have their own people in place, they plan to start a bloody, brutal war on an unimaginable scale.

On restricted duty while he recovers from injuries incurred on a previous mission, Dewey Andreas is sent to Paris by CIA Director Hector Calibrisi. The Secretary of State is going there for secret talks, and Dewey is to be an extra layer of security above the State Department team. But what should be an easy mission couldn’t go more wrong. The cabal has sent in a hit man to take out the Secretary of State and lay the blame for this murder at the feet of Dewey himself.

With the Secretary of State dead, shot by Dewey’s weapon, Dewey is on the run and out in the cold, desperately trying to unravel the plot before the conspirators succeed in killing millions of innocents.

Enjoyable as all of Ben Coes stories are and Dewey Andreas is the greatest since Dirk Pitt but this one was even more far fetched than usual. And I am curious why the government is still using “plasma” flat screens which haven’t been produced for 6 years. Note to Ben!

I enjoy books like this for the escapism and impossible heroics, but there has to be a little basis in physical realities. Around 70% of the way through a scene in a train - 3 guys in a train bathroom and then pulling in a fourth to undress him and take his conductor uniform - what kind of train bathroom fits 4 huge guys with guns :) Then they are going through the train to see other killers on the train - a guy gets on the train roof during a snow storm in the alps - somehow this guy on the roof can see into the windows and find killers instead of the guys in the train hunting them. Seems pretty lazy writing and lack of research. Could not bring myself to finish it.

For me there was several aspects of this book that were very disappointing. The lack of cohesiveness between one chapter to the next as if the readers are just ignorant. In one chapter they’re putting a woman on a ventilator and the very next chapter they’re putting an oxygen mask on her disregarding the fact she’s already on a ventilator. (Spoiler alert)The whole scene on the train was comical especially the ending as he escapes on skis. Launching out the side of a speeding train at 90 degrees in the direction the train is traveling and suffering no ill affects or bad landing. I’ve done a lotta of skiing and I’ve never been able to snow ski at 50 mph sideways, specially in deep snow. The ending was totally predictable. Also the lack of knowledge about weapons, weapon handling and there capabilities. Getting that right is low hanging fruit.

In today’s political world the events described in this book could almost be described as “almost true”. The book is pack with excitement from start to finish.

I absolutely love your books. I think I've read them all, even though they scare the hell out of me. Maybe I need a Dr. Peck too! Keep them coming. When is your next Dewey Andreas thriller to be published?

Seemed very haphazard writing. Not up to previous Dewey standards. Whole think about nuking Islam was better treated in DeMille book. This was a simple, "bang--you're dead" in every other page

Really enjoyed, Dewey one of my favorite characters. I would have given it a five, but the train ride through the snow was a bit much.
